Lamprobe
What is Lamprobe®?
Lamprobe is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that tackles minor skin abnormalities by using high-frequency and radio-frequency energy waves.
It does not penetrate the skin’s surface, but it targets the abnormities to their core.
What can Lamprobe® treat?
Vascular Irregularities such as:
- Telangiectasia (Broken Capillaries)
- Cherry Angiomas
- Spider Naevi/Angiomas
Sebaceous Irregularities such as:
- Clogged Pores
- Xanthelasma (Cholesterol Deposits)
- Milia
- Inflamed Pimples
- Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Hyperkerantized Irregularities such as:
- Fibromas
- Seborrheic Keratoses
- Skin Tags
Clients with more than three irregularities are encouraged to come in for a complimentary consultation for a custom quote. Should you decide to get the treatment, we can typically perform the procedure during your appointment.
How does it work?
Lamprobe uses radio and high-frequency technology to produce a current that cuts off the blood supply to the skin irregularity.
This causes death of the irregularity which will eventually be shed from the skin. Lamprobe only targets the top layer of the skin leaving the dermis untouched.
What can I expect during a procedure?
The treatment takes just a few minutes. Because there may be some discomfort, a topical numbing cream may be applied to sensitive areas.
During your treatment, we will:
- Cleanse the treatment area with an alcohol pad.
- Examine certain abnormalities with a special light.
- Apply a small probe to the skin on the treatment area(s).
- Apply Bacitracin ointment.
When will I see the results?
Healing time can vary from 2-7 days for cherry angiomas, broken capillaries, and skin tags. It can take up to 3 weeks for larger problems like fibromas and keratosis. Stubborn abnormalities may require additional treatment.
What can I expect after a Lamprobe® treatment?
The areas treated may feel irritated. Redness and scabbing may also occur. Please follow the protocols below for home care. DO NOT PICK at the areas treated even if scabbing occurs because prematurely removing the scabs may lead to infection, hyper/hypopigmentation, or scarring.
Pre-Procedure Instructions
- Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (e.g., hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, retinol, and benzoyl peroxide) in the treatment areas for 3 days before treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and lotion on treated areas.
- Come to the appointment with clean, product-fee skin.
- Avoid sun exposure 48 hours prior to the appointment. Self-tanning creams and sprays need to be completely faded.
- Due to the body’s inflammatory response to COVID-19 and other viruses, we ask that you postpone your procedure for 2 weeks after being symptom-free. This helps minimize post-procedure inflammatory responses your body may experience.
Post-Procedure Instructions
- Keep treated areas clean with soap and water. Apply Bacitracin Zinc ointment several times a day until completely healed.
- Do not pick or rub the treated areas.
- Band-aids may be used as needed.
- You may apply make-up to the treated areas after 24 hours.
- Do not apply Retin A, tretinoin, or any other peeling products to the treated areas for 21 days.
- Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen.
